About Heather Cunningham

Heather is a solo practitioner in the area of family law. She graduated from UBC Law School in 2000 and has been practicing in Vancouver since her graduation. The most common areas of law practiced are custody, access, primary residency, child support, spousal support, asset division, separation agreements and divorce. Heather is very conscious of the toll separation and divorce takes on the children of the relationship/marriage and works to complete the necessary legal matters as quickly as possible.

Heather works with files in both the Provincial Court of British Columbia and the Supreme Court of British Columbia. She has extensive experience in both Chambers applications and trials.

In 2004 Heather provided one day workshops addressing basic family law issues to specialized victim service workers in 16 different locations around the province of British Columbia. She has lectured in criminology classes at Simon Fraser University and provided workshops at Specialized Victims Services conferences.

Previous to her law career, Heather graduated from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario with a B.Sc. - Honours Kinesiology degree. She worked as an adult physical fitness director, children's summer camp director and CPR/First Aid instructor in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. Heather is also a qualified Life Skills Coach and practiced in that field for five (5) years.

Heather is presently the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Federation of British Columbia Youth In Care Networks, a provincial society that supports youth in and from foster care in BC. She has been a member of this Board of Directors since 2004.

In her free time Heather likes to play golf, watch golf or talk about golf.
